和 joins nouns, nothing else

规则 和 joins NOUN to noun: 我和他, 苹果和茶。
和 does NOT join clauses or actions. I eat and watch TV is not 我吃饭和看电视。
For one thing after another, use 然后: 我吃了饭，然后看电视。
For two comments on the same thing, the second clause takes 也: 这个菜好吃，也很便宜。
