"Not Having" Is a Gift

“Not having” is a gift. And how to borrow things from “not having”.

A TEDx Talk by Logan Hsu: if you want to create, to be different and to do better, make use of what you do not have. The things we do have may be the very things standing in the way.

I very much like the creative question: “What is there not on a train?” It is a question that leads to creativity in a business product — you should begin from what you do not have.

And the speaker’s own story:

“Do not let the polio, or the way I look, fool you. What I have that you do not is angels who are always willing to help.”
“I have noticed in recent years that some young people complain that they do not have a good family background, good conditions, that pay is low, house prices are high, and there is no future. I know this is the reality, but what I also want to share is that a person who falls into a cesspit and keeps complaining about the smell will never get out of it.”

Logan Hsu is a lecturer and the author of 5 books. He had polio, and moved by crawling along the ground until he was 7. In grade 7, when he fell in the middle of the road, he did not want to get up at all. A taxi driver rushed over and helped him across to the other side. It was then that he understood that heaven had not given him “a whole body”, but had given him countless angels.
