Where question words go
A question word stands where its answer would stand — it does not move to the front.
The rule
Chinese does not front its question words. Put the question word exactly where the answer goes:
他去北京 → 他去哪儿？ (never 哪儿他去)
几 asks about small numbers and always takes a measure word: 几个人。 多少 asks about any number: 多少钱。
A sentence that already has a question word does not add 吗.
