Like a tree

Easy to be around, attentive and fresh, like a cool green tree — that is what I hope to bring to anyone I meet.

Easy to be around, attentive and fresh, like a cool green tree — that is what I hope I can bring to anyone I meet. I have thought about it all the more since learning that, according to scientific research, how long we live depends on the quality of our everyday interactions.

This happened about two weeks ago, when I went to the hospital to visit my uncle. He had suffered a mild heart attack, and very luckily, because chị Oanh insisted that he see a doctor and be admitted, the stent was fitted successfully, and after a week in hospital he only had to go home and be monitored. The visit could have been an ordinary one, but I tried to do a little better, just a little.

There is a YouTube channel called Nucleus Medical Media that illustrates, in 3D video, the whole anatomy of the human body and the surgical treatments used on it.

I showed my uncle and my cousins videos about how a heart attack happens, and about how and by what method a stent is fitted — and, since they do not read English, how to open the channel and turn on automatic translation.

Chị Oanh said: “Thank you so much. Only now do I understand what is wrong with my father and what the doctor was explaining. In my free time I never knew there were interesting things like this to watch — I have only ever watched useless stuff.”

All I felt was gratitude towards her: if it had not been for her kind heart and her openness when I shared what I know, I would never have had the chance to do it.

Everything you do, or do not do, will bring about a change.

Remember this — revisit it in a few days.
