HSK 2 · 对 · 给 · 跟

Prepositional phrases go BEFORE the verb

给我打电话, not 打电话给我 — the whole phrase jumps in front of the verb.

The rule Preposition + object goes BEFORE the verb: 他对我说。 请给我打电话。 我跟他一起去。
English puts it after (call me), Chinese puts it in front — the classic HSK 2 slip.
对 = to / towards. 给 = for, to. 跟 = with.
The negative goes in front of the whole phrase: 我不给他打电话。
