Potential complements: 听得懂 / 听不懂
Slide 得 or 不 into the middle — this, not 不能, is the natural way to say it cannot be done.
The rule
Take verb + complement and slide in 得 (can) or 不 (cannot):
听懂 → 听得懂 / 听不懂 · 看完 → 看得完 / 看不完 · 拿了 → 拿得了 / 拿不了
A speaker says 我听不懂, hardly ever 我不能听懂.
Questions repeat both forms — 你听得懂听不懂？
听懂 → 听得懂 / 听不懂 · 看完 → 看得完 / 看不完 · 拿了 → 拿得了 / 拿不了
