即使 / 就算 … 也 — even if
虽然 concedes something real; 即使 supposes something that has not happened.
The rule
即使/就算 A，也 B — even if A happens, B still holds. A is HYPOTHETICAL.
虽然 A，但是 B — A is a FACT that has happened.
即使下雨，我也去。 (it is not raining; suppose it does)
虽然下雨，但是我去了。 (it did rain)
就算 is the colloquial 即使. The second clause takes 也, never 但是.
