姓 and 叫 are verbs

我姓王 — no 是 anywhere, because 姓 is itself the verb.

規則 姓 and 叫 are VERBS and need no 是: 我姓王。 我叫小明。 Never 我是姓王。
姓 takes the SURNAME only. 叫 takes a given name, or the full name: 我叫王小明。
Politely: 您贵姓？ — answered 我姓王, without repeating the 贵.
Ordinarily: 你叫什么名字？
