The medical book that belongs on your shelf

For me personally, this is the most important and most valuable book there is.

“Ăn gì không chết” (How Not to Die), by the author and doctor Michael Greger — if anyone asks, my answer is always the same: for me personally, this is the most important and most valuable book there is.

I came to it through chị Phi Yến Võ, through the story of how the diet in this book changed her mother’s health.

He became a doctor because he watched his own grandmother extend her life by more than thirty-one years (she was sixty-five when she developed heart disease, and ninety-six when she died), recovering on a whole-food, plant-based diet.

Two things you may want to know

  1. Every piece of information is cited from the most reliable medical research there is, and anyone can understand it, even without a background in medicine.
  2. The book is in two parts. Part one is about not dying of the diseases ranked in order of the leading causes of death in the United States. Part two is a daily food “checklist”, based on the scientific evidence and on the author’s own experience.
The title page of a book on white: the authors “Bác sĩ MICHAEL GREGER, founder of NUTRITIONFACTS.ORG, with GENE STONE”, the Vietnamese title “ĂN GÌ KHÔNG CHẾT” with the words “KHÔNG CHẾT” made out of green kale leaves, and below it “HOW NOT TO DIE” and the publisher Nhà xuất bản Trẻ
The Vietnamese edition of “How Not to Die” by Dr Michael Greger with Gene Stone, translated by Hoàng Nữ Minh Nguyệt and Công Huyền Tôn Nữ Thùy Trang (NXB Trẻ).

Remember this — revisit it in a few days.
